‘Buzz without booze’ is a project aimed at 11- 16 year olds, living or studying in Southampton. The main aim of the project is to encourage young people to enjoy themselves without alcohol by participating in alternative activities.

No Limits, a local young person agency, will be conducting support sessions at schools across Southampton to all school years.

What you can do

  • Set boundaries and stick to them

  • Remove temptations at home

  • Talk to them about alcohol, about the positive and negative sides of drinking

  • Make sure your child has a way of getting home safely

  • If you drink – set a good example and your child choose sensible drinking approaches

  • Respect the law – and don’t buy alcohol for your child if they are underage

Did you know

  • 20% of children get their alcohol from their parents (23% from friends and 15% by asking someone else to buy it.

  • Younger people are more likely to drink with family members
  • They are more likely to drink if they live with someone else who drinks
  • There is a strong relationship between a young person drinking behaviour and their parents attitude to their drinking (85% of pupils whose parents did not like them to drink had never drunk alcohol)
